I’ll take this case of the “Monday’s” any day!

Woke up about 5:30 this morning and took a peak out the balcony. The sun is not rising yet so it is very dark still. It’s still pretty to gaze at the safety light gleaming across the sea and the white crest of the waves moving through the darkness. I have the curtain slightly open so I can enjoy the view. Sunrise is at approximately 7:11 am. I can’t wait! I don’t believe we have anything in particular planned for today but I’m sure we will entertain ourselves as usual!

First stop this morning was preferred club breakfast at Mecure. I enjoyed an omelet and French toast with pineapple juice and water. Hubby had french toast and lots of bacon, toast with apricot preserves with pineapple juice and water. Food was good and no issues with custom ordering the omelet or hubby’s made up meal.

After breakfast we headed straight to the preferred pool. We planned ahead and had our pool stuff with us so no need to go back to the room. The water was slightly chilly since it was quite early in the day but not too cold to enjoy. Once the bar opened we had some Sex on the Beaches and followed them up with our own made up cocktail: peach liquor, pineapple juice, grenadine and vodka. It was delicious! How can one not enjoy themselves at the edge of the infinity pool, gazing out at the ocean with a delicious cocktail in hand?

Other things to note about the pool area: plenty of chairs and while guests are “saving” the early, there are plenty to be had. Staff is friendly and attentive. There are 2 restrooms, 1 on each side near the entrance to the beach. There is a “take a book, leave a book” library near the restroom on the side of the bar.

We took a brief walk along the beach with the waves crashing at our feet. It’s been red flag days since we’ve been here so we’ve not been in the water. However, with the infinity pool so close – it’s not missed so much.

We started getting hungry at about 11:30 so we headed back to the room to relax and take advantage of room service. While room service is not the high end quality the restaurants offer, they are good and well worth it if you want to stay in the room. Bacon cheeseburgers, pepperoni pizza and chicken nuggets & Mac n cheese were today’s splurge. Hubby has had 2 room service pizzas so far and seemed to enjoy both. The burgers are pretty good and I really liked the chicken nuggets. The Mac n cheese was very basic velveeta type sauce on penne noodles. Now that our bellies are full it is time for a nap!

After a nice long nap and hanging out in the room we dressed for the evening and headed out. First stop, the Preferred Lounge. After enjoying a cocktail at the always peaceful and mellow lounge we stopped by our favorite restaurant, Mercure, for some of our favorite dishes: salmon, beef filet, soups, scallops, and for today’s try something new flavor, duck confit. Hubby had some house white wine and our lovely waiter mixed me up a lovely sangria with the house red wine.

Once dinner was over we made our way to the theater where we watched a fun magic show. There were not a ton of bells and whistles which was great because it made the slight of hand and other tricks that much more fun. The nice young lady who had been dining next to us at dinner was chosen as a volunteer assistant so we cheered extra loud for her! There was a breakdancing show to follow the magic show but we opted out of that one and did a second trip to Mercure. Hubby needed more of the soup and I had a craving for their shrimp and some crème bruile. The crack on the top of the crème bruile was perfect!

My back pain was really getting to me by now so we headed back to the room for the night. I am so grateful for the ramps around the resort and the elevators at this resort! Back at the room and armed with Lifetime Christmas movies and a comity bed I crashed early.
