Relaxing Sunday

  1. SUNDAY

Woke up at about 6:55am. Have I mentioned how grateful I am that Cancun is Eastern Standard Time? I have a really odd and sporadic sleep schedule so I was quite concerned how it would go while on vacation. The change in daily schedule and activities seems to have normalized my sleep pattern for now. Maybe this could be used to leverage more trips HAHA!

I spent the morning writing and browsing social media while listening to the waves crash the shore. Talk about a peaceful morning. Once hubby woke we made our way down to the buffet for a late breakfast. It was pretty tasty. Quesadillas, chiquilles (red & green), assorted sweet breads, fruit, bacon, sausage, waffles, pancakes, French toast, and even an omelet station. Plenty of juice variety and of course coffee and tea. ;

On the way back to the room we stopped in to see the Solmiier to schedule a special Le Petit Dinner. He was very informative an shared about other offerings. we scheduled for Tuesday night. Next we spoke to the Spa Concierge and she was able to make our needs fit into the daily special which was a big money saver!

A quick trip back to the room to change for the spa and we are off again. We arrived at the spa at 11:30 for a 12:30 appointment. We were promptly greeted and attended to separately for changing and then met back up in the Hydrotherapy circuit.

After being offered some cold water we were escorted to the sauna. We weren’t caring for that treatment so much but he asked us to give it 5 minutes so we went ahead. The valet put cucumbers and a cold towel on our eyes which was nice. After the sauna we went into the pool where there were jets throughout in different positions to provide a water therapy massage. Neck, shoulders, then legs and lower. Once out of the pool they had us lie back and put more cucumbers on our eyes with another cool wash cloth. The time in the hydro circuit finished off with a short food massage before our massage therapist was there to take over.

I was pleasantly surprised that my husband and my massages were in the same room at the same time – as we did not formally book a couple’s massage. We both had a nice massage focusing on the individual areas we each needed. I actually fell asleep for the majority of my massage and woke to finish with a much needed facial. Once done we were dressed and on our way, or so we thought. Hubby didn’t realize our room key and his locker key fell out of his pockets in the pool so off he went to fish those out. Oops!

Making our way back to the room we popped into the preferred lounge for a cocktail and to peak at what snacks were out. Fried Calamari and Shrimp burritos – I had a small nibble since we planned to do room service when we got back to the room. While in the lounge we ran into the lovely couple we met at dinner on Saturday night. after a brief chat we went our separate ways. Finally back to the room we ordered room service and both laid down for a short nap. 40 min later room service woke us. We enjoyed our simple lunch of bacon cheeseburgers and cheesy nachos before quickly realizing we are far too tired and want to seep more. And sleep more we did! I woke periodically but didn’t get out of bed until 7:30pm where I found hubby watching a movie on Netflix. Side note: sign out of your accounts because others will use them after you (LOL).

We considered going to the theme night dinner and fire show at the main pool but opted against it. It was just too far. Instead, after the movie, we dressed and headed down to the French restaurant for a late dinner. There was a 45 min wait – YIKES! They gave us a buzzer and we headed to the Preferred Lounge to wait. Margarita for me and Baileys on the rocks for hubby while we wait. One of the bartenders was super sweet and interactive. She even recommended the Salmon for Mecure. She was even sweet enough to confirm I was saying a few new words I learned correctly.

We were disappointed when the buzzer never went off so we went back to the restaurant to check on things since we knew they close in just over an hour. We were seated when the hostess saw us (there were A LOT of empty tables). Our waiter quickly came over and rushed us ordering (Main dish only due to the time. This was quite disappointing and we should have been told at the time we were wait listed or at least should have been buzzed when a table actually opened. we were hungry so we ordered anyway. I had the filet and salmon and hubby had filet and shrimp. This food was amazing. In the end our waiter did bring us a dessert of his choosing and encouraged us to return tomorrow for a full service.

Back to the room for the night. We watched a couple of Christmas movies and just enjoyed our time together. Surprisingly no pool or beach today but we were ok with that. To just be together and enjoy a peaceful and relaxing day was quite nice.
